| “Doctor, Your Check Bounced Again” |
| …Guidelines for eliminating embezzlement and fraud in a dental practice |
by Don P. Lewis Jr., DDS, CFE and Jennifer de St. Georges
Synopsis: One out of four dental practices has been, is or will be embezzled. This full day program provides dentist and spouse solid techniques to both identify and prevent dental practice fraud. Specific case histories are fully explored, allowing employers to quickly comprehend the wide and creative ways used to divert practice funds to outside sources. With such knowledge, a dentist can quickly ascertain whether he/she has fallen victim to this psychological and financially devastating crime.
Take home proven internal control systems to ensure that you are longer vulnerable to having funds siphoned off in the future. Implement accounting practices to safeguard your current profitability and future earnings. A dentist and spouse program only, you will quickly feel comfortable discussing this uncomfortable subject, with your peers, in our protected environment.
Don and Jennifer’s program covers two specific areas: Don educates audiences about the scams, schemes and tricks embezzlers in dentistry use; and Jenny covers the necessary bookkeeping and backup systems needing to be place to both try to prevent embezzlement in the beginning and hopefully to catch it if it is indeed taking place.

Donald P. Lewis Jr., DDS., CFE
After 14 years in private practice, Dr. Lewis discovered he was a victim of a very silent and financially draining
crime in his practice-embezzlement. He took time to run his own investigation, then successfully prosecuted his ex-employee and
recovered the lost funds! He has authored two books on white collar crime “Employment Embezzlement and Fraud in the Dental
Office: Scams, Schemes and Broken Dreams” and “Your Roadmap to Financial Integrity in the Dental Practice”.
Dr. Lewis now has over 150 reported cases where dentists returned to their practices, after attending his Fraud program, to discover
they have indeed become an embezzlement victim. Dr Lewis is only one of two dentists in the world who has passed the stringent
examination to earn the designation of Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Dr. Lewis is a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgery and is in private practice in Cleveland, Ohio. He is an associate professor at the Case-Western Reserve University
School of Dentistry and the Weatherhead School of Management. He is also the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery consultant to the
Cleveland Clinic.
Testimonials
“Prior to attending your seminar on Office Embezzlement I thought I had everything set up in my office better than Fort Knox. Your lecture was definitely an eye-opener and allowed me to re-evaluate my dental practice through the eyes of an embezzler, and thus implement an internal controls program. Your course has been the best business seminar I have ever taken”.
